About us

In the spring of 2006, the Villanova Irish Dance Team was founded by a small group of dedicated dancers. Today our team is an entirely student-run organization, who enjoy sharing their long-standing love for Irish dance, music, and culture with the entire Villanovan community. Since its inaugural year, Villanova’s Irish Dance Team has gained a prominent reputation within the Irish Dance Community and on Villanova’s Campus. Our presence on campus has grown as we can be seen performing at Parent’s Weekend, Homecoming Weekend, Basketball Games, in our annual St. Patrick’s Day Showcase and Intercollegiate Irish Dance Festival, along with many other events.

Currently, the team has weekly practices and welcomes all levels of Irish Dancers to become a member of the team. While some dancers still actively compete others have less experience and are simply brought together by a love and interest in Irish Dance. All of our performances are entirely choreographed by students. These include both a mix of tradition ceilis as well as dances choreographed with a modern flare and contemporary music. Every year, the Villanova Irish Dance Team performs for the Villanova community to kick off the St. Patrick's Day season. It is a huge hit on campus and within the nearby community, as local schools come to perform as well as on campus clubs, such as acapella and  dance groups.

One of our major accomplishments this year has been an increase in participation outside of the Villanova Community. We performed for the Day of Service at several locations, bringing joy to people through our talents, as well as AOH dinners, and even appeared on Fox News the morning of St. Patrick’s Day. In the upcoming year, we hope to continue the trend with our presence growing stronger in the community surrounding and supporting Villanova’s.  Please be sure to contact us if you are interested in having our group perform at any local events!
